So it’s been a whole week to wait for the next instalment of the Wandavision, and I have mixed views about this.

Even though I’m enjoying the fact I have something to look forward to each week, up till now there hasn’t really been anything MAJOR to get my teeth into overall.

That’s the biggest issue Disney+ and Marvel are going to have if they are going to continue with this weekly releasing schedule: it gives the audience time to reflect. A moment to ponder whether after the whole whip up of initial excitement – was there actually any substance?

Episode 1 was a nice introduction piece. Episode 2 really played with the premise a little more – but nothing really substantial. So does Episode 3 finally stop with the whole foreplay, and get juicy?

But before we go anywhere – what is the point of “previously” in Wandavision. Last week I thought it was a quaint little play on television, but every week? Seems a bit random for a streaming service – unless Disney / Marvel are actually planning to broadcast this series too? If so, kind of defeats the object of a Disney+ exclusive show. What’s the point of subscribing monthly to gain access to exciting new things, if you can just wait a little while for it to be broadcast for free? Seems odd business model.

Anyway, it’s now the 1970s – and things are getting weird. Truly enjoyed how Herb was glitching as he cut his hedge. Even though he seemed to snap out of it for moments of conversation with Vision. Is (what I keep calling) ‘the matrix’ crashing under the weight? However, I can’t see how Agnus is in on it, unless she and ‘Ralph’ are using Wanda’s experiences to get the children for some reason? But seems to be a weird ‘story’ to make / live in / be part of, unless Wanda is part owner somehow?

Been wondering over the past week, that if Wanda is part owner of ‘the matrix’, then perhaps the concept of sitcoms and the adverts are all based upon her experiences throughout life? The hydra and stark ads concerning the change of allegiance she has had over the past decade of the Marvel story. The sitcoms she watched in Eastern Europe giving her a ‘twisted’ view of being a ‘normal American family’ / wanting to fit in etc.

The reason why I’m mentioning this, is mainly due to something not right with the ‘editing’ within the show. In Episode 2, when the Beekeeper was seen, it was clearly Wanda who rewound the situation, so her and Vision could have a ‘perfect moment’. In this episode, it was clearly a hard cut. Completely different characteristic –  so I am assuming a different ‘editor’. I don’t think Wanda was the one who re-edited Vision. Maybe Agnus and/or ‘Ralph’?

I enjoyed the subtle collar of Vision – half in, half out – symbolising his position in this episode. Very clever, credit and points given. 😛

Meanwhile, while I was discussing with friends last week’s episode – they explained to me about Wicken and Speed – Wanda’s children. So this has made me wonder whether the reason why the out of control ‘magic’ is partly Wicken? Hence, why Wanda is confused and unable to control the stalk etc. But don’t really understand how that would work. Unless ‘the matrix’ is suddenly also taking input / allowing manipulation from the emotions of the unborn children? As it seems everything is ‘for the children’ at the end of the day 😆

Predictions / Confusions

As I have no idea about the background or the comic books this is based upon, I thought it would be fun to predict what could be happening next. Feel free to comment below your own predictions / review and play along – BUT LIKE ME, NO SPOILERS! 😛

  • Those hexagons are still everywhere. Friend reminded me this week that Wanda is a witch, so casts spells / hexes. But seems a little too simple. Still quite like my Queen Bee theory 😆
  • Geraldine seemed to snap out of the trance like Dotty did previously. But the wrong thing said at the wrong time.
  • What if the ending of Herb’s sentence was “Because we are all dead”? So everyone is in some kind of purgatory? All the people in the town are captured souls in purgatory – Wanda has gone after Vision to this place? Could be an interesting situation. Perhaps Agnus is the gatekeeper to purgatory? So maybe she is worried what would happen if Wanda realises where she is – being powerful and all? Only assuming that if there are Gods in Marvel, there must be other religious things too?
  • Agnus seemed genuinely scared to let Vision know too much this episode. But similarly wants to break up Geraldine and Wanda from getting too close? As if she isn’t dead, everyone else is? That’s why Geraldine doesn’t have a home?

  • Very little of the overall story (again)
