So I decided it was a good idea to start a blog (again).
The Basics
Being 2021, blogs are SO in vogue. However, after the challenges of this time, I think it is important to discuss and reflect. Over the past several years, I have been wanting to improve my writing skills – however like any skill, you need to practice it to grow it.
So after many thoughts about this, and the fact that I have grown tired of the constant barrage of small tweets and short Facebook posts. I’d much prefer to hear and listen to ideas or subjects or point of views without limitation of length, hence why I decided to start this blog to see how it goes.
Not all about Writing
However, I think the biggest issue I’m hoping this blog will help with is my memory.
Since an accident in the Peak District a few years back, one of the conditions I suffer from (among others) is a short-term memory issue. So the main purpose and main audience member of this blog is actually for myself. To help me store my thoughts and ideas in a secure place – which I can (hopefully) easily search to remind me on a point of view or idea. Perhaps a link or video I found interesting or helpful. So really, this blog is more for me, than it is for you. But if you find it helpful, then that’s even better.
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a difficult time trying to keep a tab on the interesting things I have found on the interwebs anyway. Perhaps it was a good video for a project I’d like to do, or some cool article that I’d like to read at another time. Either way, I’d bookmark it or “like it” or Tweet it or something else you’re supposed to do on the internet, and yet somehow I’d lose that valuable piece of information when it came to need it.
This blog is nothing special. It is a digital scrapbook of ideas and concepts that I’ve found around the webs that inspire me. If it inspires you – GREAT! If it doesn’t, then oh well, maybe next time?
Little Warning
From time to time I might use this blog as a ranting platform – to vent about something that has ground my gears. Sometimes I will use it to start discussions about subjects I haven’t thought of before. Other times I might just post a stupid video from my personal YouTube account. However, what is almost guaranteed – there will be at least one spelling mistake per post as my dyslexia kicks in. Think of it as the unofficial game of “Where’s Wally?” / “Where’s Waldo?” for this site.
Please feel free to post in the comments for that blog post which words are wrong. The first person to do so won’t get any prize, but can be the King or Queen of that blog post for being stupidly fast and anal 😛
The plan (if there is one) for this blog, is to write approx 5 articles a week – covering an array of subjects that are interesting to me that day / week. Like everything, all opinions are just that, and can change over time. However, I hope this blog can grow and morph as I explore new and interesting subjects along the way.
